A) Yes, you can get copies of your prior year Forms W-2 from the IRS. There are two ways to do this:
- Request a copy of your tax return. You can request a copy of your tax return by filling out Form 4506 and mailing it to the IRS. There is a $43 fee for each copy of your tax return that you request.
- Request a wage and income transcript. A wage and income transcript shows the federal tax information that your employers reported to the IRS. You can request a wage and income transcript online, by phone, or by mail. There is no fee for requesting a wage and income transcript.
To request a copy of your tax return or a wage and income transcript, you will need to provide the following information:
- Your name
- Your Social Security number
- Your date of birth
- The tax year(s) that you need copies for
