Q) I forgot to include my 1099R forms when I sent in my paper claim, what should I do?
A) If you forgot to include your 1099R forms when you sent in your paper claim, you can do the following:
- Contact the Social Security Administration (SSA). You can call the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 or visit their website at www.ssa.gov. When you contact the SSA, you will need to provide your name, Social Security number, and the date you sent in your claim. The SSA will then send you a copy of your 1099R forms.
- File an amended return. If you have already filed your tax return and you forgot to include your 1099R forms, you can file an amended return. You will need to file Form 1040-X, Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return. When you file an amended return, you will need to include the correct information from your 1099R forms.
- Pay any additional taxes that you owe. If you filed your tax return without including your 1099R forms and you owe additional taxes, you will need to pay those taxes. You can pay your taxes online, by mail, or by phone.
It is important to note that if you do not file an amended return or pay any additional taxes that you owe, you may be subject to penalties and interest.
