I am having some trouble finding out why I still haven’t received my 2021 tax refund.

Q) I am having some trouble finding out why I still haven’t received my 2021 tax refund. I received a notice in August stating the Tax Pro’s office did not claim one of the stimulus payments she was given documentation that I had received. The letter I received in August dated 8/22/2022 showed the refund amount being reduced by 5000, and that there would be an amount of $174 added for interest on my refund that I should receive by 10/22/2022. I have yet to receive anything I was supposed to also receive the remaining half of my child tax credit when I filed for 2021 in the amount of $5,600. I cannot get anyone from the IRS to tell me what the issue is and why they have not released my payment I have been waiting since March of 2022 to receive my return. I was removed from my home with my children as it was no longer deemed safe due to a domestic violence problem. We have been living in people’s living rooms for over a year now because I can’t afford to get into a home/apt and give my children a safe stabile place to live. I work a full time job and have tried to do whatever was requested but I have yet to receive any sort of notification regarding the reason for not releasing, nor when it would be released or if any further steps needed to be taken. I also was made aware that a referral was sent to the person whom is reviewing my return information and requested it be released or notified me of anything further I would need to do in order to complete the review and receive my refund. I’m begging at this point I feel as if I’m just getting a run around at this point and it’s never been an issue with my taxes prior to last year. They received accepted and then nothing… Please help me. I really could use the income to get my little girls, my son and myself into a safe home again. This has traumatized my daughter to the point of anger and she needs stability. Please help us.

A) I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble receiving your tax refund. Unfortunately. I don’t have access to your personal tax information or the ability to contact the IRS on your behalf. However, I can offer some general advice on what steps you can take to try and resolve the issue.

There are a few reasons why you might not have received your 2021 tax refund yet. Here are some of the most common reasons:

  • You filed your return late. If you filed your return after April 18, 2022, your refund may be delayed.
  • You made a mistake on your return. If you made a mistake on your return, the IRS may need more time to process it.
  • You claimed a tax credit or deduction that the IRS is reviewing. If you claimed a tax credit or deduction that the IRS is reviewing, your refund may be delayed.
  • You owe money to the IRS. If you owe money to the IRS, your refund may be used to pay off your debt.
  • Your return is being audited. If your return is being audited, your refund may be delayed until the audit is complete.

If you’re not sure why you haven’t received your refund, you can check the status of your refund on the IRS website. You can also call the IRS at 800-829-1040 to check on the status of your refund.

If you’ve waited more than 21 days after e-filing or six weeks after mailing your return and you still haven’t received your refund, you can request a refund trace. To do this, you can call the IRS at 800-829-1954 or visit the IRS website.

If you still haven’t received your refund after 12 weeks, you can file a claim for a lost refund. To do this, you can use Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund. You can find this form on the IRS website.

It’s important to verify that the information the Tax Pro’s office provided to the IRS is correct. You may want to double-check your records to make sure that you received all of the stimulus payments you were entitled to, and that you have documentation to support this. If you find any discrepancies, you should contact the Tax Pro’s office and try to resolve the issue with them.

If you’re unable to reach the Tax Pro’s office or if they’re unable to help you, your next step should be to contact the IRS directly. You can do this by calling their toll-free number at 1-800-829-1040. Be prepared to provide your Social Security number, your filing status, and any other relevant information about your tax return. You may need to wait on hold for a long time, so be patient.

If you’re still unable to get a resolution after contacting the IRS, you may want to consider contacting a tax professional or seeking legal advice. They may be able to help you navigate the tax system and find a solution to your problem.

I hope this information helps, and I wish you the best in resolving your tax refund issue.
