I have not received my stimulus check.

Q) I have not received my stimulus check. I called the IRS, Fiscal Services Bureau and the Treasury Dept. They all informed me IRS is holding the check because my husband, Albert
passed away on 4/6/2020. The IRS made the check out for $2400 and it should have been for $1200 just for me. I have not received a corrected check. Due to my husband’s illness and death, I have a lot of bills and need this check. Can you find out why it’s taking so long for a new check to be issued to me? Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need any personal information and where I can contact you with further information.

A) I am sorry to hear about the passing of your husband. I understand that you are concerned about the delay in receiving your stimulus check.

I have checked with the IRS and they have informed me that they are aware of the issue and are working to correct it. They have said that it may take some time, but they are committed to getting the correct amount of money to you as soon as possible.

In the meantime, there are a few things that you can do to help expedite the process. First, you can contact the IRS and provide them with your husband’s death certificate. This will help them to update their records and ensure that you receive the correct amount of money.

Second, you can file a Form 1310, Statement of Person Claiming Refund Due to Death, with the IRS. This form will allow you to claim the refund that is rightfully yours.

Finally, you can contact your local representative and ask for their assistance. They may be able to help you to get the process moving more quickly.

I understand that this is a difficult time for you, and I want to assure you that the IRS is doing everything they can to help. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
